I love setting a skiff in orbit around a valuable piece of space rock and just watch the beauty of the ship and its laser as it melts the ore into my hold. I like knowing that I am the base of the support structure for the entire game. Without me (and my fellows) there would be no base material for the massive ships or the small attack craft that you guys love to crash again and again and again thus creating a market for more and more of the material that I provide. Without my contribution in stripping the ice fields, you would not have the fuel that keeps your stations operative and your capital ships from collapsing dead in space.
